Something to look forward to in the mail

If anyone out there is like me, you looked forward to that monthly magazine waiting for you in the mailbox. I had subscriptions to Game Informer, EGM, and Nintendo Power for the longest time. But now they are all gone. But I did find a new thing that I can get excited seeing once a month in my mail besides spam and bills. It's called SakuraBox.
SakuraBox is a monthly Japanese candy club! Once a month you get an adorable box in the mail.
And inside is a fun goodie-bag filled with Japanese sweets!
The creators of this idea were originally born in Japan, but moved to the States. Family who still lived over-seas would send them sweets from home. And they thought it would be a great thing to share with others. The Japanese are famous for having such a variety in candy, and many are only available during certain seasons. This is the best way to try many new things and get your hands on something that would normally be really hard to find.
I just love it! Lately I've found that American candies and sweets have just not been enjoyable for me. Americans tend to just add sugar on top of sugar. There is nothing substantial for a 'grown-up' palate. So I've turned to Japan and Europe for my sweet-tooth. And well...almost all food, if I can afford it. The rest of the world eats so much better than we do. Especially with candy!
Anyone out there who enjoys trying something new or just looking for something MORE in their sweets, I highly recommend SakuraBox. They wrap it so nicely, and add a sweet personalized hand-written note to all their customers! Here's their website: http://sakurabox.com/ Next month is KitKat month! Can't wait to see what flavors they have. Thank you so much readers. Coming up I'll have to post taste-tests of my new candy!

Holy October!

I can't believe it's mid-October already! Sorry I disappeared for a little bit there. Got crazy busy with work and the new comic launching next Wednesday! You can read it on the Horror Palace network. I look forward to seeing what you guys think. This one is illustrated AND written by me, and it's much more action and gore packed. So 'til then, here's a picture of durama owls.

Work Doodle

Just a little doodle I drew up at work recently. Though you guys would like the humor in it.

End of Dagon

The final page posted Wednesday. Thank you everyone for reading it and giving feedback. I hope you all enjoyed the story! There will be more comics soon. All will be revealed in the following weeks! I'm really excited for the new project. I'm sure hard-core horror fans will like it! I'm sure you've noticed a change on Platypi Studio, I'm currently updating it and going to post a lot more art on here. DeviantArt used to be my main site, but it's gone rather down-hill. It's less about the art community and becoming more about boobs. I swear, take a picture of your boobs and you'll be front page! *rolls eyes* But stay tuned on here and Horror Palace.com for more comic and art goodies. We have some big plans for October! Thanks again! Love, Liz

Much delayed update

Hey, sorry for the delay everyone. Life has been a little too hectic for me lately. But I do have some art updates for you all. I am quitting the 30 day art challenge. I made it to day 11, but I just don't have the time.
I have 2 secret projects in the works right now, and they take #1 priority. It's something cool, and I know you guys will like it when all is revealed. So please keep listening to the Terror Troop and other podcasts on Horror Palace for updates. All will be revealed soon!

Day 7: Draw a monster

Day 8: Draw your favorite movie

From our latest episode, you might already know. But Jaws is my favorite movie of all time tied with The Ring. I HAD to draw the classic scene with Quint and the chalkboard.

Day 11: Redraw Something

I drew this my freshman year of college in 2005. It's my true feelings toward dolls. And what I think the damn things might do...

And now my re-do I finished yesterday. I would like to hope I've improved. What do you think?

So thank you for sticking with me here. I hate to quit something not even half way through, but like I said other projects just need to be in the foreground for now. Hope you all enjoy!

Theatre Bizarre (2012)

I've got to say this upfront, this movie is AMAZING!

The showings are a bit limited, but it is well worth seeking it out. The main website has a list of cities and dates where it is available. http://www.w2media.com/theatrebizarre/

Please, PLEASE; if you are able, go see it. You will NOT be disappointed. Great actors, great directors including Tom Savini. And get this, NOT CGI! It's all done in practical effects. Now that's just the cherry on top of a perfect sundae!

10/10 in my book. I'll post a more in-depth review later on. I just really wanted to get the word out there about it. Because the last showing in Colorado is Feb 4th. HAD to let you guys know about this gem!

Hello guys!

As promised on the latest episode, I wanted to show you all the fun doodles I draw during really BAD movies. So enjoy!

The Chupacabra is making the same facial expression I did while watching the movie.

My favorite is the gentlemen Bigfoot.

Meadowoods (2010) Review

Now as you all know, I've been on a indie streak lately. There are some real jems in the smaller productions that Hollywood can only dream to have again. But just like the big guys, indie's can have their share of duds.

Meadowoods follows three college kids, (Brent, Ryan and Jennifer) who are longing for something exciting in their lives. So the three start planning a murder. Each have their own reasons to want this, and the movie is a video diary/log of the events.

Premise sounds interesting enough, but execution had something to be desired. There are only two handheld camera's used throughout the entire film, which makes sense for the premise. But anyone who hates the 'shaky cam' is not going to enjoy it. There is also a nearly 15 minute long scene of just black. I kid you not. The movie finally started gaining speed, and then darkness. It's a bad idea for any movie to do that for a long period of time.

The acting was okay by some of the characters. I found myself really enjoying Ryan. He was an under-dog who was bullied by the other two to go along with the murder, a bit of a pussy, but enjoyable. Jennifer's character is very bland. A piece of cardboard would have more personality. Ila Schactler, who plays their victim Kayla, was a much better actress and written character. I wish the two roles where reversed. And the way they go about talking in public about their plans is ridiculous. Like you just say the word 'bomb' in an airport and you're asking to get a free colonoscopy. Let alone out in a cafe or video store saying, 'how are we going to kill Kayla Pruett?' Using full names like that is just dumb!

One scene I did enjoy, was the three are in a video store trying to get idea's for how to kill their victim. And guess which isle they were in? YUP! Horror! Thought it was kinda funny.

The movie had a lot of promise, neat concept but for what you get out of 88 minutes is a let down. I would of loved to see them tie Kayla to a chair in a shed somewhere and slowly cut chunks off of her for weeks, or something of that manner. What you get is a 'Buried' wanna-be.

For anyone into psychology, this would be a good movie to watch and write a paper about for school. But for fun, I would pass.

3/10

Happy New Year!

Hey! Start to the new year, and I'm already 6 days late...eh. Going back to work after a nice break was tough. But here is my first (and only drawing at this point) of 2012!

It just doesn't seem like a new year without the new year slug!

Take Care everyone and 'til next time!
